Xiaomi today announced its new 80W wireless charging technology. The new 80W technology is a major improvement over the 30W technology introduced by the company last year.
According to the company, the new 80W wireless charging technology is capable of charging a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 10% in 1 minute, from 0 to 50% in 8 minutes, and from 0 to 100% in just 19 minutes. For comparison, the 30W wireless charging technology introduced last year is capable of charging a similar battery from 0 to 50% in about 25 minutes and from 0 to 100% in 69 minutes.
In March 2020, Xiaomi introduced 40W wireless charging to the world and in August it introduced 50W wireless charging technology. The company recently introduced its Mi 10 Ultra smartphone, the first in the world with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Other companies are also investing heavily in wireless charging solutions. OPPO, for example, announced in July its 65W AirVOOC wireless charging solution, which is capable of charging a 4,000mAh battery in 30 minutes. A detail about this solution is that it requires the smartphone to be positioned vertically on the charger.
Xiaomi’s announcement did now not provide technical details about its new 80W wireless charging technology. She just highlighted her pace and posted a demo video on her YouTube channel. The agency additionally did no longer mention when precisely this fast wi-fi charging science will be existing on their smartphones or what it is doing to correctly control and dissipate the heat generated for the duration of charging.
